During November and December, CroAI organized student visits to Croatian tech companies as part of the BrAIn project, with the aim of bringing artificial intelligence closer through real-world, hands-on examples.

Instead of a purely theoretical approach, students had the opportunity to see how AI is used in everyday work—through concrete projects, technologies, and the teams that develop them.

At ININ in Slavonski Brod, students from Gimnazija Matija Mesić learned about the application of artificial intelligence in an industrial environment. They saw how AI is used in manufacturing, quality control, and the development of chatbots that support business processes and daily operations.

At Comminus in Zagreb, students from the Geodetic School encountered AI in a very tangible form—through a robo-dog, drones, computer vision systems, and data analysis solutions. Live demonstrations of the technology sparked numerous questions and discussions.

The visit to Mindsmiths offered a different perspective. Students from Ivan Gundulić Primary School and the Private Grammar and Vocational School “Svijet” spoke with the team about AI product development, ethical considerations, and career opportunities in artificial intelligence. A demonstration of an AI agent with whom students could engage in an interactive conversation generated particular interest.

These visits highlight the importance of giving young people direct exposure to technology in real-world settings. When students see how AI functions in practice and meet the people behind its development, artificial intelligence stops being an abstract concept and becomes an inspiration for further learning and thinking about future careers.

We would like to thank ININ, Comminus, and Mindsmiths for their hospitality, time, and willingness to share their knowledge and experience with students.

These visits were organized as part of the BrAIn project (Supporting the Application of Digital Technologies in Education), implemented in collaboration with CARNET – Croatian Academic and Research Network, with support from the European Social Fund Plus, through the programme Efficient Human Resources 2021–2027.
