CroAI is looking for an Executive Director!

A position just opened at CroAI - we’re looking for our next Executive Director!


As the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in the organization's success by providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and effective management. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, manage finances, lead EU-funded projects, and foster communication and collaboration between the team and the Executive Board.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve CroAI goals and objectives.

  • Ensure alignment of activities with the organization's mission and values.

  • Monitor progress towards strategic goals and make adjustments as necessary.

2. Financial Management:

  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and accounting processes to ensure financial sustainability.

  • Manage resources effectively and allocate funds to support organizational priorities.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.

3. EU-Funded Project Leadership:

  • Lead EU-funded projects from inception to completion, ensuring success, priorities and compliance with grant requirements.

  • Coordinate project teams, set project timelines, and monitor progress against milestones.

  • Liaise with EU agencies, partners, and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and fulfill project obligations.

4. Team Communication and Collaboration:

  • Foster a culture of open communication, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.

  • Facilitate regular meetings and interactions between team members to promote knowledge sharing and problem-solving.

  • Serve as a liaison between the team and the Governing Board and the Supervisory Board, providing updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.

5. Executive Board Relations:

  • Work closely with the Governing Board to develop organizational policies, strategies, and priorities.

  • Provide timely and accurate information to the Board to support decision-making.

  • Collaborate with Board members on fundraising initiatives, advocacy efforts, and stakeholder engagement.

6. CroAI Public Relations:

  • Being a public face of CroAI and representing CroAI in communication with the wider public, from journalists, at conferences, and in communication with the different business and public administration representatives, all that in coordination and together with Board members.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership, 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a community-driven organization or nonprofit.

  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets and financial resources.

  • 1+ years of experience in EU project frameworks and experience with grant management.

  • Experience with leading teams.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams and communicate in public.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of CroAI, with a passion for advancing artificial intelligence research and education.

  • Proficient in English for both written and spoken communication.
